What Causes a Green Pool?
A green pool is almost always a symptom of an underlying problem. Without fixing the root cause, it will turn green again, sometimes within days. Here's what we look for:

Poor Circulation
If your pump isn't running long enough, water isn't turning over sufficiently. Stagnant water is algae's best friend. We check pump run times, skimmer and pump baskets, and flow rates.

Warm Weather Spikes
Perth summers create ideal algae conditions. Heat accelerates algae growth and degrades chlorine faster, meaning pools need more attention during warmer months.

Chemical Imbalance
Low chlorine, incorrect pH, or high phosphate or stabiliser levels all create conditions where algae can thrive. Our digital water testing identifies exactly what's out of range.

Faulty Equipment
A failed salt cell, malfunctioning dosing system, or blocked filter can stop sanitiser delivery overnight. We inspect all three critical systems; circulation, filtration, and dosing.

Leaves, insects, sunscreen, fertiliser runoff, and bather waste all introduce phosphates — algae's food source. We test and remove phosphates as part of every recovery assessment.

Assess & Diagnose
We run a full digital water chemistry analysis with our digital water testing equipment. Checking chlorine, pH, alkalinity, phosphates, and more. We also inspect your pump, filter, and dosing system to identify any equipment faults that caused or contributed to the problem.

Quote Upfront - No Surprises
Based on our assessment, we provide a clear quote covering labour and expected chemical usage. You know exactly what you're paying before we start. Chemical costs vary by pool size and severity. We always use what's needed, nothing more.

Shock & Floc
We apply a tailored shock treatment to eliminate the algae, followed by a flocculant to bind dead matter and suspended particulates so it settles to the floor and can be vacuumed out. We brush all surfaces thoroughly to break up algae growths on every surface and ensure the treatment reaches everywhere.

Vacuum and Filter Clean
Once the dead algae and debris has settled, we vacuum it to waste. Not back through the filter. We then perform a thorough backwash or cartridge clean. This removes the bulk of the dead matter and clears the water significantly.

Rebalance & Verify
We retest and rebalance all water parameters to bring everything into the safe swimming range. A detailed digital service report with water chemistry data, before-and-after photos, equipment notes and preventative maintenance recommendations is sent to you the same day.

Prevention Plan
Before we leave, we walk you through what caused the problem and what to do to stop it happening again. Whether that's adjusting run times, servicing a faulty component, or enrolling in a regular maintenance plan.
